Abstract

Reflections on Turkey in the Changing Context After the Cold War
ABSTRACT: Russia went into a period of chaos with the collapse of the Soviet Union after the Cold War. However, also with the strength achieved by the rich energy sources, it revived its economy and gained power creating alliances with countries like China. In this way, Russia struggles to advocate multi-polarity in the world against the United States of America. As an ever-evolving formation, European Union has close ties with the Russian Federation. These relations are sometimes problematic, especially concerning EU‟s energy dependence. These relations affect Turkey, which on one hand is located in the same geographic area with Russia and on the other hand has been waiting for years to become an EU member.
