| dc.description | ABSTRACT: Structures meeting the needs of the age they were constructed in, become unused and turn into ruins after a time because of technological progress and change of production methods. The conservation laws that surfaced and came into force in 19th century helped providing a basis for the recovery of structures that witnessed the past and bear the marks of history. The reintroduction of structures that lost their original function and became unserviceable, by providing the necessary repairs, gave way to the act of refunctioning, thus aiming to adapt the structures that lost their functions, without demolishing and protecting their characteristics. The interior spatial interventions made on refunctioned structures should protect the past yet adapt to the current time. In other words, the structure should be refunctioned by the least amount of interventions, without losing its originality and with the most suitable function. The thesis, evaluates the transformation of “Cer Atölyeleri”, a train hangar, to Cer Modern Art Center and studies the spatial interventions made in the progress, compares the progress with domestic and international case studies and questions if these kind of structures are suitable as art centers. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Yapıldıkları dönemin ihtiyaçlarını karşılayan yapılar, gelişen teknolojilerin ve değişen üretim biçimlerinin de etkisi ile bir dönem sonra kullanılmamakta ve harabeye dönmektedir. Bir dönemin izlerini taşıyan, tarihe yakından tanıklık eden bu yapıların, 19. yüzyılda ortaya çıkan ve yürürlüğe giren koruma kanunlarının da etkisi ile günümüze kazanımının zemini hazırlanmıştır. Mevcut işlevini yitirmiş ve kullanılamaz haldeki yapıların gerekli tadilatlar yapılarak topluma kazandırılması ile yeniden işlevlendirme olgusu karşımıza çıkmış ve bu sayede işlevsel olarak eskiyen fakat fiziki olarak varlıklarını devam ettiren yapıların yok edilmeden, sahip oldukları karakteristik özellikleri ile birlikte geleceğe aktarılması hedeflenmiştir. Yeniden işlevlendirilen yapılara yapılan iç mekân müdahaleleri hem geçmişteki izleri silmeden hem de döneme ayak uyduracak şekilde olmalıdır. Bir başka deyişle, yapı günümüze en az müdahaleyle, özgünlüğünü kaybetmeden ve en uygun işlevle taşınmalıdır. Tez kapsamında, bir dönemin tarihine tanıklık eden Cer Atölyeleri’nin Cer Modern Sanat Merkezi’ne dönüşüm süreci değerlendirilmiş ve bu süreçte yapılan mekansal müdahaleler incelenmiş, yurtiçi ve yurtdışı örneklerle karşılaştırmalar yapılmış ve bu tip yapıların sanat merkezi olarak uygunluğu sorgulanmıştır. | |
